Placebo return with Battle for the Sun

Placebo return to what awaits them on June 12th with new album Battle for the Sun, preceded by single ‘For What It’s Worth’ on June 5th.

The three-piece have been recently re-invigorated by new drummer Steve Forrest and the press release notes – “complete artistic freedom following the end of their contract with Virgin”. Battle for the Sun is being self-released by the band.

It was recorded over a period of three months in Toronto studio and mixed in London by Alan Moulder. The band are calling their new material ‘hard pop’. Make up your own mind.

For What It’s Worth

They’re certainly dressing like the Manics circa 92.

Irish dates are to be confirmed.

Went to the Placebo gig in Bournemouth on Saturday,

The gig consisted mainly of tunes from the new album and I cannot bloody wait for it. David Bottrill produced the album (famous for producing Lateralus, Salival and Aenima by Tool) and they sound amazing!

Could’nt agree with David more, I went to see them at Sheperds bush empire last night (12th May09) and wow! Great new songs and a few classics thrown in too! Special K, Every You and every me was a huge high light! nothing from placebo ‘Placebo’ Though!:( Meds, infra Red, a strange cover for the b side of For what its worth the new single being Wouldnt it be good (Nik Kershaw)Love the original of the song, but i’m sure the cover will grow on me? eventually! Cool Gig Great Band sounding more complete than ever, more of a staduim quility sound with new drummer, steve, steffan, brian, and three other musicians!
You must see them live this year the festival gigs will be awesome! and battle for the sun is showing signs to be a great album for 2009!

I really wish Placebo would stop releasing new material. Their debut amazing and easily one of my favourite albums but they have been going downhill since that unfortunately.
