Stephen Gately dies in Majorca

Boyzone’s Stephen Gately has died in his sleep on holiday in Majorca. Details are unclear but it seems that the 33 year old singer went out for drinks, came home and fell asleep but didn’t come round. The remaining members of Boyzone are expected to fly out to the Spanish island today to join Gately’s partner Andrew Cowles.

Louis Walsh commented, “We’re all absolutely devastated. I’m in complete shock. I was with him on Monday at an awards ceremony. We don’t know much about what’s happened yet… He was a great man.”

I am absolutely devastated to hear about Stephen Gatley’s death. I am a big fan of boyzone, Stephen is one of my favourite’s and i love him very much. He is a nice guy but i never met him before. I have been to his concert in the O2 Arena in Dublin in 2009. I will miss him alot. I also want to say that he had alot of life in him and he was to young to die. RIP From Mei lin Yap

So tragic for his husband and family.

To those saying it is impossible to die of natural causes at 33, that is nonsense. One of my friends dropped dead from a heart condition he didn’t know he had, he was only 20 and seemed very fit and healthy. At this stage, nobody knows what happened, just seems like he died in his sleep.

Wow, it just doesnt make sense, all the great ones are taken from us so young, Hendrix, Lennon, Malcolm X and now Gatley. When will it end?

It’s a respectful memorial and somewhere to pay tribute to the band’s and his family’s fortitude at this difficult time.

Just wondering if anyone else saw the disgraceful article by Jan Moir in the Daily Mail on this: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-1220756/A-strange-lonely-troubling-death–.html

Horrible, hateful stuff but at least she’s getting the shit back she deserves.

  • Patrick Conboy

Absolutely ridiculous stuff. But then again, it is the Daily Mail…

Yeah, wouldnt expect anything different from the Daily Mail, but it really is low beyond belief to do this to someone who just died. Her response wasn’t great either, a very half-hearted apology. I’ll try and dig it out…
