Before embarking on their Irish tour in October/November and after their Kilkenny Arts Festival appearance in August, Mercury Rev will release not one, but two new albums on September 29th. The regularly released album in shops is called Snowflake Midnight but there’s also another.

Strange Attractor the 11 song, full-length companion album to Snowflake Midnight will be available on the same day for mailing list subscribers for free MP3 download.

‘Senses on Fire’ is the first single from Snowflake Midnight and is a surprising left-turn for the band. The track is something you might expect from the likes of M83 rather than Jonathan Donahue and friends. It’s a glacial, synth-led re-introduction with distorted vocals and squalling guitars. Ready or not, here they come.
