The King Kong Club final happens this Thursday

The King Kong Club Grand Final will see six acts compete against each other for a grand prize in The Village this Thursday (April 8th).

Kicking off at 8.30pm for €5, Bocs Social, Filthy Geeks, The Hot Sprockets, Infidels and The Lynchburg Mob will be among the bands looking to capture the big prize – nine days recording and mixing in Serra Vista, Portugal in Boz Boorer’s (Morrissey’s guitarist and musical director) residential studio, with all expenses (flights, transfers, accommodation, food and drink) paid for and use of all Boz’s array of vintage musical equipment. Pretty sweet prize.

There are also runner-up prizes of a main stage slot at the KnockanStockan music Festival in Blessington this summer and a full days recording in Asylum Studios With Jimmy Eadie and Liam Mulvaney.

The King Kong Club happens every Monday night in the Village and provides a stage for young bands to encourage them to pursue a career in music. Now in its 6th year, The King Kong Club also has a show on RTE 2XM. You can listen to an episode here.

5 out of the 6 acts you have named so why not name the 6th act also? Bit harsh…

Because we weren’t told the name of the sixth act.

Boc’s Social are last year’s winners, and are headlining the final once the competing acts have played. The 6th act in the competition is Clockwork Noise (yay).
