Portishead closed the 10 year gap between Later appearances this week with a performance on the live show on Tuesday evening. They played their menacing single ‘Machine Gun’, leaving a vivid reminder of how good a Portishead live performance can be. Here’s hoping they make it to these shores over the summer.

The Last Shadow Puppets (performance), Devotchka, Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, Phil Campbell and Toumani Diabate also appeared. Diabate’s performance on the kora was particularly mesmerising. If you liked it, you may be interested in his album Mande Variations.
