After a limited showing at the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival, the amazing ‘Anvil! – The Story of Anvil’ returns for a full run at the IFI in Dublin, opening this Friday 6th March. You’ll know the story by now – washed up Canadian heavy metal band give it one more shot on a European tour with predictably hilarious, Spinal Tap style results. What you might not be prepared for is just how emotional the film is, particularly in its second half.

This is more than just an excuse to laugh at a bunch of middle aged men in leather but a genuinely inspiring tale of not giving up on your dreams. Heavy metal may form the backdrop but this is essential viewing for anyone who’s had it in them to try something creative. And yes…we did wipe away the odd tear.
