Director – New Single, New Album, Live Dates

Director have announced details of a new single, ‘Sing It Without A Tune’, which will be available on 1 May on their own Crapshoot Economics label. New album, I’ll Wait For Sound, will be released a week later. It was produced by Brad Wood (Smashing Pumpkins, Placebo, Liz Phair) in L.A. and mixed by Barny Barnicott (Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand, Kasabian). It is the follow-up to their platinum-selling debut album, We Thrive On Big Cities.

Director have announced some initial live dates, with a full tour to be announced soon. So far confirmed are:

Sat 18 April – The Pumphouse, Kilkenny
Sun 3 May – Breakers, Portlaoise
Fri 22 May – The Button Factory, Dublin
Sat 23 May – Cyprus Avenue, Cork

    So after Cathy Davey that’s another former Irish major label act going it alone after a deal with a major label (Universal). That’s kinda disappointing..

    Doesn’t give a lot of encouragement for Irish bands signing to majors.. even though they apparently did well recently.
