Just to clear something up – Therapy? have never played Glasgowbury
Here Comes The Landed Gentry blow hot and cold for me. I was really looking forward to their set but it wasn’t as good as I wanted it to be.
Standouts for me were (in no particular order) – Furlo, Cashier No.9, LaFaro, ASIWYFA and Dutch Schultz.

I can’t wait ’til next years gig

Just came across state.ie’s coverage of Glasgowbury and I generally have to agree with you, Keith.

I do feel that Here Comes The Landed Gentry’s set was something wonderful to behold though, if you missed it it’s a terrible shame. I wasn’t really a fan to begin with but there’s something magical about the live performance: they’re a band with recordings that fail to do their live performances justice instead of the other way round.

Glaring factual errors aside, I wouldn’t say any of the other sets were crap. Some weren’t great (though a lot of the band were completely wasted on stage). Dutch Schultz, Black Bear Saloon and Clown Parlour all played very well. But I just wanted to highlight the likes of Cashier and the JBs as bands who were definitely above the norm in terms of performance.

Also, I saw impressive sets from Not Squares and Continuous Battle of Order tonight which made me think about all the bands that didn’t even play Glasgowbury (including Therapy?…).

There’s a wealth of good music in the north at that moment and I’m having a hard time keeping up with it all.

Matthew, much as i realise that you’re trying to make the point that A Plastic Rose + Colenso Parade played great, well-attended sets (which i fully agree with and fully enjoyed), i don’t see why we have to be picked on to prove that point. We loved it and i’m glad to know that a lot of others did too.

I must agree with Keith, you only seen 5 bands the whole day? or were the rest too crap to bother writing about?

Hi Keith,

You know I never actually looked at the author’s tag – probably should have first – if I had I wouldn’t have been as sharp…

Therapy? played a good few years back I think, not too sure.

…I’m just on an APR / Colenso mission at the minute because they played early and it seems a lot of the reviews are passing them by yet and all both made a real impact with festival goers.

General Fiasco, to be honest they played the best set of the day in terms of musicianship, and tore the crowds apart – whilst Cashier No.9 were also absolutely fantastic.

How’d you enjoy your time behind the camera?

Cheers for pointing that out Matt. For some reason I have therapy? playing glasgowbury in my head. maybe it was a beautiful dream i had last week.

as for not mentioning A Plastic Rose and Colenso Parade, I didn’t mention ICOF or General Fiasco either. I picked a few performances that stood out for me personally and I missed out a heck of a lot of others.
For me, Cashier’s performance was probably the most solid and impressive of the whole day. I love watching bands grow and evolve in such a short period of time.

I can’t help but think that this review was written by someone only in attendance from around half two.

A Plastic Rose and Colenso Parade both had twice the crowd Cutaways had, and in A Plastic Rose’s case; played the best set of the entire day, absolutely destroying their early slot with stage dives and several crowd surfs.

…also, Therapy? didn’t play the festival last year.
