Jape and Fight Like Apes experience European festival difficulties

By Phil Udell on Saturday, 18 July 2009No Comment | Print this post

There has been a mixture tragedy and frustration for Irish acts at European festivals this weekend, which have been at the mercy of terrible weather conditions. Jape, due to play at the Pohoda Festival in Slovakia, were forced to cancel when their stage collapsed ahead of their arrival on site, with reports of one death and several injuries. Fight Like Apes, meanwhile, suffered less tragic consequences but were also forced to abandon plans to play in Spain as the Benicassim festival was also struck by high winds, leading to cancellations by Kings Of Leon and Maximo Park.
