"the rain"
"the sound systems"

Third year in a row! The sound system problem can never be sorted out as their license requires they don't go too loud or they get fined. The council monitor the db levels.

As for the rain... Last year I abandoned the place and went home for hot whiskey, yum yum. It was atrocious weather and when you can't hear music above the rain then you have to give up.

I went last year. Kinda shit really. Pissed rain, most music was rubbish and the place was full of wankers. Only decent sets I think were The Field and Of Montreal. Modeselektor walked off (apologising to the crowd) after 15 minutes because the music was inaudible and the soundguy wouldn't turn it up cos of council bylaws or some other horseshit.

It certainly looks like a fun festival, some really fantastic photos there! I havent made a festival yet this summer (unless you count the Galway Arts Festival, which isnt quite the same IMO), and I'm starting to get a serious itch. Might be time to splash the cash...

I really enjoyed Field Day and I know I was one of the few ready for the rain. My highlights were The Mystery Jets, Mogwai-didn't find them in the least disappointing but the crowd were a bit lame, Fake Blood and Aeroplane tore up the Bugged Out tent but the PA could have been miles louder. Malcom Middleton was pretty good in the Village Mentality tent but again they could have turned it up a bit.
Final Fantasy opened the day very nicely but could have had a longer slot.
My only gripe was the sound systems and the fact you could hear too many conversations throughout each set because they were too low especially at Four Tet. If they iron these problems then I will gladly go back next year. It may have been full of posers but I didn't meet one w*nker all day.
