Lily Allen claims to be quitting music

By Phil Udell on Thursday, 24 September 2009No Comment | Print this post

Having spoken out on the subject of digital music piracy of late, Lily Allen now appears to have announced her retirement from music on her (now shut down) blog. Reported by the NME, she writes “Just so you know, I have not renegotiated my record contract and have no plans to make another record. I do however remain a fan of new music, so this is not some selfish crusade. The days of me making money from recording music have been and gone as far as I’m concerned, so I don’t (at this point) stand to profit from legislation [from the government regarding file-sharing]. Except future purchases of previously recorded material (which won’t be much).”

Where this leaves her upcoming Dublin O2 show is at the moment unclear.
