Festival roundup: The Great Escape, Primavera, Bestival & Pitchfork

International festival news now:

  • Bestival has announced its preliminary lineup which includes Dizzee Rascal, The Flaming Lips, Hot Chip, LCD Soundsystem, Gil Scott Heron, Four Tet, Simian Mobile Disco, Delphic, Rolf Harris, Marc Almond, Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip, Ellie Goulding, Fat Freddy’s Drop, Flying Lotus, Kitty Daisy & Lewis, Stornoway, Joy Orbison, Tinie Tempah, Vitalic and loads more. The festival takes place in Robin Hill Country Park, Newport on the Isle of Wight from Thursday 9th until Sunday 12th September 2010. Tickets are now on sale through Red Funnel for £160 per adult and include weekend admission, camping, postage and booking fees.
  • In May, The Great Escape which claims to showcase the world’s most exciting new bands and doubles as an industry conference event takes place once again in over 30 venues in Brighton from May 13th to 15th. \the lineup so far includes Broken Social Scene, Delphic, Chase & Status, Marina & The Diamonds, Ellie Goulding, Crystal Fighters, Slow Club, Cold Cave, Esben and the Witch, Hurts, Japandroids, Best Coast, Timber Timbre, The Ruby Suns and Real Estate. Early bird tickets, that not only get you in to see all the bands but will also get you access to outdoor gigs, afternoon shows, club nights, after parties and much more, are on sale now from www.escapegreat.com for £45.00.
  • More phenomenal “additions for the Barcelona festival Primavera Sound this year taking place on the 27th- 29th of May in the Parc del Fòrum of the city. Grizzly Bear, Tortoise, Built to Spill, Yo La Tengo’s Condo Fucks, Seefeel, Thee Oh Sees, Fake Blood, Major Lazer, Ben Frost, Black Math Horseman, Apse, Monotonix, Sian Alice Group and Geoff Barrows of Portishead’s side project Beak>. Tickets are €140 plus booking fee. See previous lists.
  • Pitchfork have announced the dates of their Music Festival in Chicago which will be their fifth annual festival event. It takes place in Union Park from July 16-18, with tickets on sale this Friday. No announcement of bands til Friday but we’re sure they’ll be good. A three-day ticket costs $90.
