Gorillaz for the O2, Dublin

Gorillaz will play their first ever complete live performance headline show in Ireland in The O2 on Wednesday 22nd September.

The Escape To Plastic Beach Tour to Dublin will feature the same show with video animation, a full live band and special guests (to be announced) as the band’s recent Roundhouse, London show where Bobby Womack, Mos Def, Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Kano and more joined the Gorillaz band which includes 50% of The Clash (Mick Jones, Paul Simonon) and Damon Albarn in its members.

Tickets are priced €59.80 including booking fee for all seats and will be on sale from 9.00am on Friday, 21st May through Ticketmaster. The event will have a standing floor with allocated seating.

    Don’t understand the press release announcing this as their “first live show in Ireland”. They played a completely live gig in The Olympia in 2001. Just that they played live behind a screen and you could only see their silhouettes. Was a good show actually.

    in 2001 Gorillaz played Dublin so your information is wrong. It was a fantastic live show the compleate 1st cd was played from start to finish.

    Gorillaz hit Dublin this weekend
    Gorillaz, “the world’s first virtual band”, play their first live Irish date ever at Dublin’s Olympia this Sunday 24 June.

    Gorillaz are a group of animated characters – 2CD, Noodle, Russell and Murdoc – as created by Blur singer Damon Albarn and illustrator Jamie ‘Tank Girl’ Hewlett, featuring US hip-hop producer Dan ‘The Automator’ Nakamura, Talking Head Tina Weymouth and rapper Del Tha Funky Homosapien.

    The group made their ‘live’ debut at London Scala in March when images of the animated alter-egos of Albarn et al were projected onto a screen stretched across the front of the stage. The group played behind the screen, ignoring calls from the audience to “show yourselves”.
