Castlepalooza – Charleville Castle, Tullamore, Co. Offaly, 2nd – 3rd August
What: A boutique music festival in a pleasant setting which holds a crowd of 1000. Two-day ticket including camping – €85.
Who: The Parlotones, Mystery Jets DJ’s, Fight Like Apes, RSAG, Laundry Shop, Dirty Epics, The Black Seeds, Kormac (live), Republic of Loose DJ set, The Flaws, and Robotnik.
Mantua Festival, Ballinagare, Co. Roscommon, 1st – 3rd August
What: The most eclectic line-up of the bunch with a mix of International and Irish artists, electronica, dubstep, reggae, ska and punk. Three days. Tickets €100 pre-paid, €120 on gate.
Who: Múm, Gravenhurst, BLK JKS, Ham Sandwich, Daedelus, Clark, Various Productions, Poets of Rhythm, Choice Cuts DJs, Adebisi Shank, Bats, Ten Past Seven, Super Extra Bonus Party.
lndie-pendence Festival, Mitchelstown Co. Cork, 1st – 3rd August
What: It is billed as Ireland’s only free independent music festival and takes place in New Square in Mitchelstown. FREE.
Who: Cathy Davey, The Kinetiks, We Should be Dead, Alphastates, Ham Sandwich, The Flaws, The Chapters, The Blizzards, Sweet Jane, Gemma Hayes, Dirty Epics New Amusement, Fight Like Apes, FRED, Giveamanakick.
The World Fleadh, Portlaoise, Co. Laois, 31st July – 4th August
What: Ireland’s biggest Irish and Celtic music festival. Various gigs, various prices.
Who: Sharon Shannon Band featuring Shane MacGowan, Damien Dempsey, Mundy and Dessie O’Halloran, Wolfe Tones, The Mighty Stef, Brian Kennedy.
Ballyshannon Folk Festival, Co. Donegal, 1st – 3rd August
What: Trad and Folk festival. Various gigs, various prices.
Who: Dervish, 4 men and a Dog, Eleanor McEvoy, The Dave Munnelly Band, Morga and More.
Le Chéile, Oldcastle, Co. Meath 1st – 3rd August
What: Launched in 1998, as a not-for-profit festival by a group of young local volunteers, Le Chéile has hosted many of Ireland’s best known live music acts. Prices vary.

The Farmleigh Affair, Phoenix Park, Dublin, 3rd – 4th August
What: A free event of global music taking place in lush surroundings. Sold-out but a limited number will be released this morning 9am to give people a chance of getting in. Go here.
Who: Mornington Singers, Gráda, Carmen Souza, Motema, Mor Kabashi, Lo Cor De La Plana.
Spraoi Festival, Waterford City, 1st – 3rd August
What: It takes over city centre areas of Waterford for three days, transforming the streets and quays of the city into a giant stage for acts from all over the world. Spraoi is committed to the advancement of street arts, and the festival produces, premieres and showcases some of the best in the world.
Who: Cathy Davey, Fat 45s, Gorbachov, Saviours of Space, Deaf Animal Orchestra, The Lullabees, Ilya K, Latin Soundsystem.
