New RTÉ Radio 1 series charts history of reggae

Reggae seems to get a bit of a raw deal in the media over here, so props to RTÉ RADIO 1 for their new series REBEL MUSIC: REGGAE STORY examining the rise of genre from it’s roots to it’s place in the modern music scene. Kicking off this Thursday (2nd) at 9pm and running over five weeks, the series starts with the formation of Studio One and looks at the story of reggae’s most important names – from Lee Scratch Perry and King Tubby to the Police and, yes, Bob Marley. Sounds unmissable to us.

You should check out Sound Stories on Radio 1. It’s about field recordings and the like. Chris Watson is a regular contributor. Last nights show featured recordings of elephants snoring!
    Cool show.
