Well award actually, but then the Teardrop Explodes reference wouldn’t work. Yes, last night State, unaccustomed as we are to public speaking, found ourselves facing a room of 300 people, a few of them possibly less than sober. The occasion was the inaugural Irish Web Awards and State getting the nod for Best Music Site of the Year. To say we were chuffed is an understatement. To also say that we forgot to thank everyone who has supported us, written for us, taken photos or made the music that we write about would also be true. Congratulations to Phantom, Entertainment.ie and Boards.ie for their respective awards; props to the other music nominees, especially our friends MUZU TV, Drop D and Enda; and thank you to the organisers and our esteemed host, Rick O’Shea.
