New John Kelly show on RTÉ 2XM

Tuesday 10 March sees the start of John Kelly’s new show on 2XM, Radio Clash, a series that poses the question is there no such thing as a new song?
Starting with The Clash, John Kelly goes on a journey through the decades right up to Sonic Youth kick-starting the Alternative Rock Movement in the early eighties. Throughout the series John will look at those bands who not only produced new music, but a whole new sound. You won’t hear any pretenders or imitators, just those who set out to break boundaries.
RTÉ 2XM scheduler Mark McCabe commented: ‘We’re delighted that John’s involved with the station. His programme will offer something entirely different and is simply a must for retro rock fans. I think it’ll be one of those programmes that will truly influence a lot of people’s taste in music.’
One of Ireland’s most respected broadcasters, John Kelly currently presents The JK Ensemble on RTÉ lyric FM, The View on RTÉ One and Other Voices on RTÉ Two. Prior to this, he presenter Mystery Train on RTÉ Radio 1 where he won a PPI Award for Music Broadcaster of the Year. This award joined a long list of awards that John has won including two EMA awards and the prestigious Sony Award for his various music/arts/documentary radio and television programmes with the BBC, UTV and Channel 4.
RTÉ 2XM went live on 1 December 2008 and currently broadcasts an expanding schedule of twenty presenter led programmes from the likes of Dan Hegarty, Robotnik and Balcony TV.
Radio Clash with John Kelly on RTÉ 2XM, Tuesday 12.00pm and repeated on Saturdays at 7.00pm.
