Showtime May 30 – June 5
BFMV try out for Bohemian Rhapsody video remake.
Buffalo Tom / David Kitt – May 30th – Crawdaddy, Dublin
Fine double bill from the people at Soundtrack 08, featuring a rare recent live performance from Kitt and the great lost 90s American alternative rock band Buffalo Tom.
Chumbawamba – May 30th – Academy, Dublin / May 31st – The Stables, Mullingar
Hardly recognisable now from the agit pop stars of yore, the stripped down acoustic Chumbas still have plenty to say.
Rory Gallagher International Festival – May 30th – June 1st – Ballyshannon, Co Donegal
Seventh year for the celebration of all things Gallagher, featuring acts from all over the world.
Vyvienne Long – May 31st – Radio City, Dublin
Rare live outing for Long and her fellow cellists.
Hercules & Love Affair – Academy, Dublin – 1st June
Irish debut for the New York disco revivalists, presumably without Antony Hegarty.
Bullet For My Valentine – 2nd June – Limelight, Belfast / 3rd June – Ambassador, Dublin
From South Wales to the Billboard charts in the space of two records, BFMV are proof that there’s plenty of life yet in old school metal.
Dirty Pretty Things – 2nd June – Dolans, Limerick
Carl Barat and…er….the other blokes touch down out west. See www.heinekengreenspheres.ie for tickets.
Yazoo – 2nd June – Olympia, Dublin
Whether this might be one nostalgic reunion too far is up for debate, but you can’t argue with tunes like ‘Only You’.
Fred – 1st June – Roisin Dubh, Galway / 5th June – Dolans, Limerick
The best pop band in Ireland? We wouldn’t bet against it. If you’ve never seen them live, do not miss these gigs.
